The Car Raid

Living a long happy and healthy life is what most strive to achieve including Chere Heintzmann. Although with hectic work schedule and unimaginable amounts of paper work living this goal of a lifestyle can be especially hard to achieve.  What some may not realize is that living just healthy but not happy isn't exactly the same as a life that is both healthy and happy. " Even though I go on a walk almost everyday and somehow found a way to eat healthy even with my busy schedule, I didn't feel a big sense of joy though out my day," Chere admitted. This all changed once she stumbled upon Pinterest and its large variety of quotes.
Certainly with Chere large loads of work to finish and meeting to attend, she wouldn't be able to find time stroll though thousands of inspiring quotes to pick the one to read that makes her day. Instead on a day she had off from work, Chere pulled out a large box of sticky note while she  pulled up Pinterest on her phone and got down to work. At the end of that day Chere accomplished writing over 100 different quotes from the website that range from happy, funny, to inspiring quotes. " I have seen one of my relatives put up happy quotes all over her room so that is were I got my idea from." said Chere. Unlike putting up quotes in her office like her relative did Chere wanted to do something were she could see it more then once a day.
In addtion Chere deciced to put the sticky note hanging from right below her car radio so she could see it while driving and get a sense of joy from the quote. Everyday Chere replaces the quote with a new one and before she can run out of quotes she uses her days off to create more sticky notes with different quotes. " Everybody has something that brings them joy," said Chere. "Even on days that seem to only have negative events I am always reminded of something positive with the quotes." Even though everybody has a different way they favor to live it doesn't take much to realize that little things can make a difference like Chere did.

Short Answers
1. I have never used Lyft or Uber before. I honestly don't like the idea of getting a ride from a complete strangers and I wouldn't use one of these ride sharing while I'm still young and I definitely wouldn't go by myself. I think when I'm in college or when ever I am older I might have to use a ride sharing program especially if I'm in the city but I hope they have striker background checks in the future.
2. I think that ride sharing is a good idea for the community of Austin because as the population of the city grows its getting harder to get a parking space downtown and ride sharing could help the amount of cars parked downtown especially during festivals. I think that ride sharing is a good idea but it could use striker background checks and rules for the drivers. Ride sharing could also help decrease the amount of drunk drivers on the road by helping people get a safe ride home.
3. I honestly don't know to much about the difference between ride sharing companies and a taxi company but I think that ride sharing is were everyday people may use this as their second job. I think that the taxi drivers job is the main source of income in their life and  these drivers might  have have to go through training for it and apply for the job. While these ride sharing drivers can use this job as a quick way to make money and anyone with a good record can do this job.
4. I think that both taxi and ride sharing companies should both have the same standard regarding safely issues. I think that both companies should have striker background checks and make sure the driver doesn't have a negative record. Safety should be the main priority in these companies to reassure the public that this is a safe alternative to other types of transportation.

Captain Phillips Movie Review

Plot-  The movie Captain Phillips covers the real life events of the Maersk Alabama hijacking that took place in early April of 2009. The cargo ship led by Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) along with the First Officer Shane Murphy ( Michael Chernus) and his crew was following the path through the Somali waters on its way to Mombassa. Even after receiving the warning about the privates in the area, the ship continued throughout the waters and incorporated practice drills to prepare the crew. While spotting two small boats following the ship Captain Phillips takes attics to lose the boats and manages to hold them off. After one failed attempt of attacking the ship only one small boat returned with four Somalian privates led by Abduwali Muse ( Barkhad Abdi) to hijack the ship.

While the majority of the crew hides down in the engine room the Captain and other crew members are held hostage with guns  by Muse, Bilal (Barkhad Abdirahman), Najee ( Faysal Ahmed) and. Captain Phillips offers Muse the $30,000 that available on the boat but Muse insist on being paid more than a million dollars. Captain Phillips takes Muse and Bilal on a tour of the boat to find the crew while Murphy sneaks up to get some supplies for the crew. After hiding from the pirates Murphy see that Bilal isn't wearing any thing on his feet and alerts the crew to put broken glass outside the door. The power of the ship is cut off by the crew to make the pirates think it is broken and once entering the room Bilal steps on the glass and gets injured.

Furthermore due to Bilal injuries, Muse sends him and Captain Phillips back up and continues to search the engine room alone. While searching the room Muse is attacked and held hostage by the crew. The crew forces Muse to tell the rest of the pirates that they will give them Muse and a lifeboat in exchange for Captain Phillips. The exchanges ends up with the pirates taking Captain Phillips hostage and leaving with him in the lifeboat. The pirates plan on getting in contact with their mother ship on the way back to the Somali shores.

Meanwhile the crew continues to follow the lifeboat with the ship before help arrives. Tension rises in the lifeboat with Najee trying to convince the others that Captain Phillips isn't worth it and to kill him. Unable to get any help from the mother ship the pirates are left on their own to get back to the coast. The Maersk Alabama is forced to turn around and to leave by the U.S Navy destroyer USS Bainbridge. Additional ships are called in to take over the mission to rescue the captain.

The moral of the story leadership is needed to resolve a situation.
This movie would be for those who enjoy action and this movie isn't for those who don't take violence well.
I thought that the beginning of this movie was a little slow but began to pick up pace once on the ship. I enjoyed how the movie showed what was going on while pirates were leaving the tribe to go to the ship. The characters had a great ensemble effort. Overall I thought this movie captured the reality of the event it was based on.

I would give this movie a 3.5/5 because it was well produced and directed but they could have cut out some parts that didn't seem necessary to the movie.

Final Exam Preview Assignment

1. I read about how iMovie can be used to edit videos or make a video composed of photos. In iMovie you can either make a movie or a trailer and they both have different formats to use to make a project with a theme. After finishing a video or making a project iMovie lets the editor send it to someone through iMovie and always the video to be shared on social media.                                        2. I already knew that iMovie always you to edit how long each picture and how to edit videos.
3. I didn't know that iMovie projects can be edited on the iPhone then moved to reedited on the mac.
4. I am concerned about making sure the photos turn out the way I want them with the lighting at the concert.
5. I can't have anything ready at the moment because the concert will be happening this weekend but after the concert have iMovie at home to edit the project and narrate it.
6. I would probably do the project on the Beyonce concert I'm going to over the weekend.

Free Write #3

Prompt: "You let a blind man drive, so you don't get a opinion."

Bright yellow police tape stretched between the large oaks that run along the outskirts of the field,  enclosing the crime scene form the  public viewing. Multiple police and EMS vehicles line
the park while officers keep the curious citizens from entering the scene. Six very annoyed detectives surround yet the second dead body found that very day. "Why is the body always found at the most inconvenient time of day?," whined Detective Todd.
"It's only 2 in the afternoon," bluntly stated Detective Young.
"But that is the time my Soap Opera comes on."
"You have to be kidding me."
"Hey! I don't judge you on-"
"Will you two stop bickering!," cut in Detective Molly. "We have a job to do and were already short one person."
The other three detectives who were moments ago watching the argument with amused expressions now had a sour look on their face at the mention their fellow detective who has failed to show up to the scene yet. Not wanting to argue with the head detective, the group got down to work.
The body laying in front of them looked like any other middle aged women who obviously had one to many plastic surgery done, other than the fact that she was found buried under 3 feet of solid ground.
"Do we have any witness?," questioned Detective Scott.
"Only two homeless guys," answered Detective Eric while motioning the witness to come over.
Of course the witnesses had to be Henry and Gus, their always the same ones to "claim” to see every attack that happens in the park but gives the most useless information when asked about it.
"Are you going to give us information that is actually useful this time?," plainly asked Detective John.
"We'll talk for money," stated Gus.
"That’s not how its works."
"Fine then I guess we won't tell you."
"We could get more useful information from broken security cameras then from you two," commented Detective Eric already turning away from the two.
"Wait, last night I saw-," started Henry.
Before he could finish his story, the sounds of screeching tire wheels cut him off mid sentence.
All heads whipped towards the  entrance of the park where a white Honda rushed into the park leaving tire tracks behind, before doing a full 360 turn and stopping yards away from the group of detectives.
The passenger opens and the one and only Detective William steps out with smug smirk on his lips.
"Best uber drive ever, who ever knew a blind man could drive so good," happily chirped Detective Williams while walking to the rest of the shock group of people. After realizing what the heck just happened Detective Molly furiously walked up to the new arrival and japed a finger at his chest asking, "Why were you late and what the heck were you thinking?"
"That not important at the moment what is important is the case," said Detective Todd who's impatiently waiting for this to be over so he could go back to his TV show.
"Okay then my theory is that she has hit multiple times with a-," started the least popular person at the moment Detective Williams.
"Shut it," harshly stated detective Molly who was currently glaring daggers at the fellow detective.
"I was only going say what my opinion-."
"You let a blind man drive , so you don't get a opinion."
"Fair enough."

Spring Break

This was the first spring break that I was free and had no big plans. Over the years I spent every single spring break going to the beach with a bunch of families and even though it was fun it was good to have time to relax. My break started on friday because my parents signed me out of school early during lunch so I could go home early. On Saturday morning, the first day of spring break, I got up around 7 a.m to make my dad a birthday breakfast because it was his 67th birthday. My mother and I spent the afternoon attempting to make a homemade upside down pineapple cake in a shape of a heart. We made two cakes and one of them turned out perfect while the other was not the best looking so we ended up giving then better one to my dad and giving the other to my brother to eat. We celebrated my dad's birthday at home.
The following days I didn't to do much other than read on the couch and procrastinate painting my room. My dad left to New Mexico for his work on Monday. I had to get up at 6 a.m on Monday morning much to my displeasure because my brother and I had to go to a Neurologist appointment that I have once a year for my medicine and was at 8 a.m and had to leave the house by 7 a.m. We showed up to our brain doctors looking horrible with bed hair and trying to wipe away the sleep in our eyes. After they took our height I sadly found out that I wasn't 4'11 like I had thought but I was 4'10. We waited for about one hour before our doctor showed up and by that time my brother was asleep laying across the chairs while I was to hyper to sit still and was leaping around due to not having enough time to take my ADHD medicine. After asking us question we finally got to leave and we went to get to eat since we were staving. I'm so thankful that this appointment went good since last year the brain doctors were explaining the probability of me having a possible brain tumor.
We didn't want to go downtown because of all the traffic with sxsw. On Wednesday I convinced my mom to get us a big swan float because it look like a lot of fun. It took a while to inflate the swan but it was worth it when my friend and I went swimming in the hot weather in my pool with the swan. I loss count of how many times my friend fell off the swan from trying to jump on it even if it was big enough to fit both of us. My friend and I spent that evening taking picture around my front an back yard because it was a beautiful day to be outside.
On Thursday my brother went tubbing down a river with his friends while my mother took me to get new books at Barnes and Noble because I was so deprived from reading since I finished all my books.   I spent probably more than a hour which is fast for me to pick out books since I am picky about what books I read. I had more than four huge books in my arms when I decided to go to the language section to see if they finally gotten books on learning Korean. I was so excited to see that they had three Korean learning books but I knew I could get all of them because the were expensive. In the end I had to give up two of my other books to get two Korean books so I left the store with four new books. Once my dad got home I made a bet that I could jump from the side of the pool onto the swan float which was in the middle of the pool with all my clothes on for $100 and even though it took me a while to try and get out off the pool without getting wet I made good money winning the bet.
I spent the remainder of the break reading my new books and practicing my Korean. I enjoyed spending time with my family and relaxing. In my opinion spring break went way to fast.

Outside prompt shoot

Prompt: High School; Twisted Fairytales and other Terrors of Growing Up

Silence fills the area, suffocating me as visiting hours come to a end and night falls upon the west wing of the hospital. The only stream of light comes from the flickering of the broken light bulb that's unfortunately located right in my room. Pulling the white blanket that was just to thin to add any comfort once so ever, I prepare for hours of haunting nightmares that will welcome me if I become brave enough to close my eyes. Tonight the grim reaper isn't in a form of a creature, it doesn't hide under the hospital bed, nor does it watch me from afar from the closet. It never has the need to hide, it just stands in front of me in the middle of the room, or follows a step behind me in the hallway, it looms over me and does the best to make the presence clear. Thats because I already know what awaits me, its obvious, sure the doctors don't bring it up everyday nor do my parents. The grim reaper isn't in a human form its a monster that has no real form other than the growing tumor inside me. Its all in my head, eating away at my brain as if its a desert. Its a waiting game to see what kills me faster, the endless prescription of useless medicine, or the untreatable brain tumor. Both have taken away my hair, my family's happiness, my future, and  left me nothing but a boney pale shell that is nothing but a practice dummy connected to multiple machines. So here I lay dreaming of drowning in a dark ocean forgetting how to swim once again but this time I'm being dragged deeper and deeper watching the last bubbles of air leave my mouth. I choose not to put up a fight this time and welcome the dark depths wanting to see whats going to happen next, what awaits in my next life. It's at 10:pm in room 512 that the light is no longer flickering anymore as the grim reaper pulls the plug watching a constant straight line appear on the heart monitor and the beeping of the machine can be hear though out  the goodnight slumber of west wing of the hospital.

Long Answers
1. I think that Apple should not be forced to create a backdoor for information stored on iPhones because it would be giving to much power to the government. I think that creating a why to open the phone it is making a way for the government to abuse their power and spy on our phones. This is also creating another way that hackers to hack our devices and by doing so it leaves our personal information not secure.
2. If someone took my phone I would not want them to access my information that is stored there because that is my personal information and is private. My personal information could include credit cards number and take advantage of that. I don;t want people to be able to get involved in my personal life.
3. I don't think that "national security" is enough of a reason to access this kind of information because this would be using to much power and could spy on everyday citizens which is invading our private lives. If there was a why for Apple to create something to unlock the phone but not risk the government abusing there power and leaving all the customers phones not secure then that would be a whole different thing.
4. My parents check in on what I'm doing on social media and my mom follows my brother and I on Instagram and we al have private accounts. I don't use Instagram a lot anymore but I only allow my friends and people I know follow me on it. I'm not a big social media person so my parents don't have a lot to look at but I'm a very safe person and my parents trust me enough to have social media.
5. In my opinion I do think that parents should monitor and censor their child's phone. I think this because not all kids understand all the bad things that could be exposed to them over social media. I think that a parents should give their child some freedom when they get older but when they are still young they are at risk for much more exposure.
6. I think that in this generation children are being exposed to electronics at earlier ages then needed to. I do think that electronics have a good impact on children's education. I also think that its really up to the parents to decided but I believe  for a children to be able to just play games for fun on their parents iPad it should be at age 5 because if a child is exposed to young then they might become to attach to them and lose social skills. I believe  a child should at least in fifth grade so around age 10 to have a phone because the child should learn to develop more social skills and t they should only have the phone for emergency only at that age.

2. The supreme court justice who had recently died that is causing this situation is Justice Antonin Scalia. He was the courts most senior conservative. The situation is about who the replacement is going to be.
3. I think that there should be pressure on Congress to deal with this deadlock problem. Congress should be able to pick a replacement to help with the deadlock problem because the person who they pick might bring a different idea to the situation that might change the mind of the others. The person who is the replacement could take be the final decision on a matter to end the deadlock.
4. The problem the president is facing is if the person who he wants to be the replacement could be the person Congress doesn't want to be in the supreme court justice. Magazine Part 2

The early magazine covers started off not having any illustrations at first and copied the format of a book rather than today magazines. The cover only provided a title and the date when it was published which provided no details of what could be inside the again to the readers.
With the poster covers the cover was oversize compared to today normal standard of magazines. In married to type there were cover lines. Theses cover lines started off with different placements. In the forest of words its where the magazine shows what the context is inside.

Favorite

Finalist
New York, February 17–24, Spring Fashion
"In a stunning cover for New York’s “Spring Fashion” issue, Erik Madigan Heck created a wall-to-wall effect with the red and white floral pattern on Lupita Nyong’o’s Stella McCartney dress and a coordinated background. Nyong’o is no wallflower, seeming to pop right out of this inventive and stylish cover."
The cover is something that is not plain simple but at the same time not over the top dramatic. It has a perfect balance of colors and batters that doesn't make the reader feel like they are being overwhelmed. Even though there is probably a couple magazine cover out there that has the main subject wearing something that has similar patterns to the background I think that this one is just so neat with the colors. This cover has a aspect that catches my eye and makes me want to read more. The cover recreates a picture that would just be simple if the background was different and throws in a creative aspect and shows off the fashion beautifully.

Portraits and Self Portraits

Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor.

Switch your camera into ‘burst’ or ‘continuous shooting’ mode and fire off more than one shot at a time.

The person in your portrait is the main point of interest – however sometimes when you place them into different contexts with different backgrounds you can dramatically alter the mood in a shot.

I liked this photo and picked it because she is framed by her environment.
