Spring Break

This was the first spring break that I was free and had no big plans. Over the years I spent every single spring break going to the beach with a bunch of families and even though it was fun it was good to have time to relax. My break started on friday because my parents signed me out of school early during lunch so I could go home early. On Saturday morning, the first day of spring break, I got up around 7 a.m to make my dad a birthday breakfast because it was his 67th birthday. My mother and I spent the afternoon attempting to make a homemade upside down pineapple cake in a shape of a heart. We made two cakes and one of them turned out perfect while the other was not the best looking so we ended up giving then better one to my dad and giving the other to my brother to eat. We celebrated my dad's birthday at home.
The following days I didn't to do much other than read on the couch and procrastinate painting my room. My dad left to New Mexico for his work on Monday. I had to get up at 6 a.m on Monday morning much to my displeasure because my brother and I had to go to a Neurologist appointment that I have once a year for my medicine and was at 8 a.m and had to leave the house by 7 a.m. We showed up to our brain doctors looking horrible with bed hair and trying to wipe away the sleep in our eyes. After they took our height I sadly found out that I wasn't 4'11 like I had thought but I was 4'10. We waited for about one hour before our doctor showed up and by that time my brother was asleep laying across the chairs while I was to hyper to sit still and was leaping around due to not having enough time to take my ADHD medicine. After asking us question we finally got to leave and we went to get to eat since we were staving. I'm so thankful that this appointment went good since last year the brain doctors were explaining the probability of me having a possible brain tumor.
We didn't want to go downtown because of all the traffic with sxsw. On Wednesday I convinced my mom to get us a big swan float because it look like a lot of fun. It took a while to inflate the swan but it was worth it when my friend and I went swimming in the hot weather in my pool with the swan. I loss count of how many times my friend fell off the swan from trying to jump on it even if it was big enough to fit both of us. My friend and I spent that evening taking picture around my front an back yard because it was a beautiful day to be outside.
On Thursday my brother went tubbing down a river with his friends while my mother took me to get new books at Barnes and Noble because I was so deprived from reading since I finished all my books.   I spent probably more than a hour which is fast for me to pick out books since I am picky about what books I read. I had more than four huge books in my arms when I decided to go to the language section to see if they finally gotten books on learning Korean. I was so excited to see that they had three Korean learning books but I knew I could get all of them because the were expensive. In the end I had to give up two of my other books to get two Korean books so I left the store with four new books. Once my dad got home I made a bet that I could jump from the side of the pool onto the swan float which was in the middle of the pool with all my clothes on for $100 and even though it took me a while to try and get out off the pool without getting wet I made good money winning the bet.
I spent the remainder of the break reading my new books and practicing my Korean. I enjoyed spending time with my family and relaxing. In my opinion spring break went way to fast.

Outside prompt shoot

Prompt: High School; Twisted Fairytales and other Terrors of Growing Up

Silence fills the area, suffocating me as visiting hours come to a end and night falls upon the west wing of the hospital. The only stream of light comes from the flickering of the broken light bulb that's unfortunately located right in my room. Pulling the white blanket that was just to thin to add any comfort once so ever, I prepare for hours of haunting nightmares that will welcome me if I become brave enough to close my eyes. Tonight the grim reaper isn't in a form of a creature, it doesn't hide under the hospital bed, nor does it watch me from afar from the closet. It never has the need to hide, it just stands in front of me in the middle of the room, or follows a step behind me in the hallway, it looms over me and does the best to make the presence clear. Thats because I already know what awaits me, its obvious, sure the doctors don't bring it up everyday nor do my parents. The grim reaper isn't in a human form its a monster that has no real form other than the growing tumor inside me. Its all in my head, eating away at my brain as if its a desert. Its a waiting game to see what kills me faster, the endless prescription of useless medicine, or the untreatable brain tumor. Both have taken away my hair, my family's happiness, my future, and  left me nothing but a boney pale shell that is nothing but a practice dummy connected to multiple machines. So here I lay dreaming of drowning in a dark ocean forgetting how to swim once again but this time I'm being dragged deeper and deeper watching the last bubbles of air leave my mouth. I choose not to put up a fight this time and welcome the dark depths wanting to see whats going to happen next, what awaits in my next life. It's at 10:pm in room 512 that the light is no longer flickering anymore as the grim reaper pulls the plug watching a constant straight line appear on the heart monitor and the beeping of the machine can be hear though out  the goodnight slumber of west wing of the hospital.

Long Answers
1. I think that Apple should not be forced to create a backdoor for information stored on iPhones because it would be giving to much power to the government. I think that creating a why to open the phone it is making a way for the government to abuse their power and spy on our phones. This is also creating another way that hackers to hack our devices and by doing so it leaves our personal information not secure.
2. If someone took my phone I would not want them to access my information that is stored there because that is my personal information and is private. My personal information could include credit cards number and take advantage of that. I don;t want people to be able to get involved in my personal life.
3. I don't think that "national security" is enough of a reason to access this kind of information because this would be using to much power and could spy on everyday citizens which is invading our private lives. If there was a why for Apple to create something to unlock the phone but not risk the government abusing there power and leaving all the customers phones not secure then that would be a whole different thing.
4. My parents check in on what I'm doing on social media and my mom follows my brother and I on Instagram and we al have private accounts. I don't use Instagram a lot anymore but I only allow my friends and people I know follow me on it. I'm not a big social media person so my parents don't have a lot to look at but I'm a very safe person and my parents trust me enough to have social media.
5. In my opinion I do think that parents should monitor and censor their child's phone. I think this because not all kids understand all the bad things that could be exposed to them over social media. I think that a parents should give their child some freedom when they get older but when they are still young they are at risk for much more exposure.
6. I think that in this generation children are being exposed to electronics at earlier ages then needed to. I do think that electronics have a good impact on children's education. I also think that its really up to the parents to decided but I believe  for a children to be able to just play games for fun on their parents iPad it should be at age 5 because if a child is exposed to young then they might become to attach to them and lose social skills. I believe  a child should at least in fifth grade so around age 10 to have a phone because the child should learn to develop more social skills and t they should only have the phone for emergency only at that age.
